Superior Noise Control Vertical (Upstairs/Downstairs): Use on upstairs floors to reduce both airborne and impact sound transmission to the room below, and airborne sound transmission upwards. For best results use in conjunction with insulation in floor-ceiling cavities, resilient ceiling mounts, and single or double layer USG Powerscape Health ceilings. Horizontal (Rooms on the same level): Reduces both impact and airborne sound transmission from room to room by limiting the ability of sound to flank acoustic walls through the floor. Laboratory testing documented in the Full Story brochure (see below) shows that for overall acoustic comfort it is more effective to add a second layer of USG Powerscape Peace Timber to the floor above, than a second layer of plasterboard to the ceiling below.
