Floor Underlays Introduced
USG
Powerscape floor underlays can solve two common problems with floors. They can reduce the transmission of noise through floors, and they can stabilize particleboard and plywood floors to make them suitable for tile and other finishing products.
Noise Transmission
Both concrete slab and timber structure floors are prone to transmit irritating noise between levels in the building, and also horizontally on the same level from room to room. This is especially irritating in residential settings and also affects non-residential structures where peace and privacy are needed.
- USG Powerscape Peace Concrete is used on top of concrete slabs and under tiles, vinyl, timber, stone, and rubber flooring to ameliorate noise transmission problems. It has superior resistance to impact sound as well as having high point load carrying performance.
- USG Powerscape Peace Timber is used on top of particleboard and plywood floors to reduce noise transmission and also to stiffen up such floors reducing bounce and vibration, thereby creating a quality living platform.
Floor Stabilization (dimensional)
Particleboard and plywood floors expand and contract with changes in room humidity and temperature. These dimensional changes make them unsuitable substrates for most tiles, stone and vinyl floor finishes in particular. To create a suitable substrate for these floor finishing materials a stabilizing layer need to be applied to the top of the particleboard or plywood floor.
USG Powerscape Go-Between flooring stabilizer is use for this purpose and is both dimensionally stable and exceptionally easy to install.
